As a family support worker at Bufff (Children and young people with a parent or family member in prison/detention centre/probation), you will participate in the various parts of the operation where the tasks are varied and consist of the following:
Supportive interventions for children, young people and adults close to children who have a family member deprived of their liberty (both individual support calls, group calls and family calls).
Planning and implementation of activities for children, young people and relatives. Some of the activities are carried out at Bufff’s premises, other activities may require travel by your own car and sometimes also overnight stays.
You will be part of a team that, among other things, staffs the support telephone and chat.
You will carry out outreach work at the Prison and Probation Service’s units (child-centred calls with parents or siblings deprived of their liberty).
You will collaborate with, among other things, the police, social services, correctional services, addiction treatment, psychiatry and other agencies that naturally come into contact with the target group.
You work both independently and in a structured way by planning, organising and prioritising your work well. You will have your own areas of responsibility and it is an advantage if you are familiar with the economy and the application process in the non-profit sector.
You are creative, relationship-building and take initiative, you have a very good ability to establish contact with people in a vulnerable situation.
You are calm, stable and have the ability to maintain a realistic perspective on situations that arise in daily work.
You have a very good ability to cooperate and relate to others in a sensitive way and enjoy collaborating with other professions, always with the individual in focus.
You value differences and understand that different backgrounds, cultures and group affiliations can affect yourself and others in different ways. We value diversity in the work group. We see having experience of having a family member in detention/prison as a child as an advantage, but not a requirement.
Since the work often involves meeting people in crisis and/or with a complex life situation, it is very important that you yourself can see opportunities, convey hope and treat people in a respectful manner. Training in conversation methodology is an advantage.
